This scene began as a simple vase that held string flowers sitting on a string table. It was nice enough like that, but changed dramatically when I added the background. All of a sudden, a plain background didn't do it justice. That's when I got the idea to add window blinds. They gave some visual interest, but not enough. That's when I added a bare, crackled tree. When the tree was tinted blue, I got the idea to have someone outdoors, looking inside. That idea changed to a cat (which I cartooned). At that point, the scene was looking more robust, but it cried for something else . . . like
a bird!

Oh Rita I really love this and the way you have created it.  You have told a wonderful story and adding the cat and the bird is wonderful too. The bird seems to be saying to the cat "Haha!! you can't get me now youhave been locked outside."

Oh wow, this is a beauty Rita.... and that's how it goes with art many times, as you describe up above. The things you added made this into a very homely and inviting scene.  I'm loving those pink flowers, so uniguely done, all of it.  [smile] Rob

The bird is a saucy thing, that's for sure and for certain.

I'm glad you like this, Vivienne.
