My thoughts are when painting, everyone copies either from real life or photos. You are not claiming the actual photo as yours. Simply your painting of someone or something.

  • DID THIS GO UP?
    Hi Gabby,

Great rendition of your twin's cabin. Looks absolutely idyllic. Great to see your work again. Interesting you are a twin as I have twin daughters, so always relate to anything involving twins.

  • photo realistic painting of Brora Beach
    Hi Dave,

This is great. The challenge is in the painting and getting the depth of the original - which takes a good eye, skill, ability with the paint and the colours - all of which have much to recommend them. Are you familiar with Raymond Ching who commented he could not, no matter how he tried, paint anything else but totally precise and realistic paintings. His are just great. Lots of value in your work. So many artists do not get that depth into their paintings.

I've had a bit more time on my hands in the last few days - mosty because of the wet weather. So instead of venturing out I sit at the computer having fun with the wonderful Twisted Brush programme from which I always find something new to try. Pity I can't always remember how I achieved some things when I decide to try something similar. Ah well can't have it all my way.

    Hi Rob,
Apart from the dress she looks like a lovely Maori girl - who would be appropriate as an Earth Mother.
    Well done.

  • INTO THE VOID
    Hi Bob, Ken and Vivienne,
Many thanks for your comments and look in. I always enjoy putting my stuff together. It's like reading a good book (my other passion) one gets lost in it.

    Hi Rita,

Love the way you have put this one together - great colours. Fractal Plasma can give some great effects to work with I'm sure you will agree. To quote you - I could have lunch with the butterflies.

  • INTO THE VOID
Hi There Don, Rob and Rita,

When I put something together I like to choose characters (and alter them in some way - using filters etc or layer effects) and place them in a setting so as people looking can make their own story as to why they are there, what they are thinking, and hopefully all a little bit quirky. No Rob, the superdome was an image I found - often I do create the backgrounds, as you know, and other elements, but not this time. Although I did use masks so I could use the gold elements in both characters dress and change the effects of them with filters in their costumes. Sometimes I start with a character and other times it is a background that suggests the story.
    Thanks for comments much appreciated.
