He's a tired old gum tree now Viv?  He's seen a lot in his day though I reckon. I just love gum trees, some are quite spectacular and in NZ they are well watered and do very well. The ones I saw in Oz were all deprived but I guess I was in the wrong region? Robyn

Thanks Robyn for your lovely comment.  I guess most gums ae pretty hardy and I remember them in the botanical gardens not far from my house in South Africa.  They were a mixed lot and very varied in types and shapes.  Amazed at how many there are.  I do love them.  Even though they may not get much water most of them can survive drought conditions.
